Angie Chillingworth, Chair of SNG’s Scrutiny Panel, recently visited The Foyer on the Isle of Wight.
Angie talked about her visit, saying:
“I recently had the opportunity to visit The Foyer in Ryde. The Foyer provides housing and support for young adults, up to the age of 30, who may be experiencing issues with homelessness and who have other support needs, The Foyer offers a safe environment to work through any difficulties they may have such as family, employment issues, substance misuse and mental ill health.”
"The team there deliver housing-related support and advice, using a trauma informed approach in a psychologically informed environment. Each resident has their own support worker who coaches and collaborates with them to achieve their personal goals."
“I really enjoyed my visit to the Foyer, it was great to meet Chris and hear about all the work and support the Foyer provides. Having worked in “Vocational Rehabilitation” and as an “Appropriate Adult” supporting vulnerable adults in Police custody for many years, I was really impressed with the variety of support being offered, including working with external charities and support providers to deliver a range of individual support needs. The team also provide mentoring and life skills to enable residents to work towards improving their health, along with living and working independently. It is a fantastic service.”
