June is all about connecting with nature every day, reducing our environmental impact, and taking simple climate-friendly actions together.
At the heart of the month is the Wildlife Trusts’ challenge , alongside World Environment Day, Great Big Green Week, World Oceans Day, Clean Air Day, World Rainforest Day, and Insect Week.
๐ฟ 30 Days Wild – One Wild Action a Day
Throughout June, we’re inviting everyone to take part in by doing one simple “random act of wildness” each day.
These actions don’t need to be big or complicated—just meaningful, mindful connections with nature.
How you can get involved:
- Spend 5–10 minutes noticing nature each day
- Take a walk and observe wildlife around you
- Sit outside and listen to natural sounds
- Take photos of plants, insects, or skies
- Try one small outdoor action daily, such as litter picking or planting
๐ World Environment Day (5 June)
A global reminder that environmental protection is a shared responsibility.
How you can get involved:
- Take part in community clean-ups
- Make small energy-saving pledges at home
- Share ideas for greener living within your community
๐ฑ Great Big Green Week (6–14 June)
A UK-wide celebration of community action on climate change and nature.
How you can get involved:
- Join or host local environmental events
- Take part in swap shops or reuse initiatives
- Try one “green habit change” for the week
๐ World Oceans Day (8 June)
Oceans are vital for life on Earth, yet face increasing pressure from pollution and climate change.
How you can get involved:
- Reduce single-use plastics
- Choose reusable bottles and containers
- Learn more about marine life and ocean protection
โป๏ธ World Refill Day (16 June)
A global movement encouraging people to reduce plastic waste through reuse and refill.
How you can get involved:
- Use refillable water bottles and containers
- Support refill shops where available
- Reduce unnecessary packaging
๐ Plastic-Free Beauty Day (17 June)
Encourages reducing plastic in personal care products and packaging.
How you can get involved:
- Switch to refillable or solid products
- Choose low-packaging or plastic-free alternatives
- Rethink bathroom and beauty routines
๐ซ Clean Air Day (18 June)
A UK-wide campaign focused on improving air quality for everyone.
How you can get involved:
- Walk, cycle, or use public transport where possible
- Avoid unnecessary car journeys
- Reduce engine idling
๐ณ World Rainforest Day (22 June)
Rainforests play a critical role in regulating the global climate and supporting biodiversity.
How you can get involved:
- Learn about rainforest ecosystems
- Support sustainable and ethical products
- Reflect on how everyday choices impact global forests
๐ Insect Week (22–28 June)
A celebration of insects and their vital role in ecosystems.
How you can get involved:
- Go on insect-spotting walks
- Build simple bug hotels or habitats
- Continue supporting May’s planted seeds as they grow into habitats

Everyone who takes part will be entered into a £20 voucher prize draw, and our favourite story or photo will receive a £25 voucher.
