Heritage Week is an opportunity to celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage within our communities. By capturing personal stories, we aim to strengthen connections, foster pride, and showcase the unique experiences that make our neighbourhoods vibrant.
This initiative directly supports SNG’s Better Together Strategy, as we Connect with our communities. By engaging with residents and listening to your stories, we aim to build trust, deepen relationships, and demonstrate our commitment to understanding and valuing the people we serve.
What’s Happening?
During Heritage Week, we’re inviting SNG colleagues to use their volunteering days to engage with residents in their communities. Staff will conduct informal interviews using our Oral History Questionnaire to capture memories, traditions, and life experiences.
Why It Matters
Celebrate Diversity: Highlight the varied backgrounds and histories of our residents.
Build Connections: Strengthen relationships between staff and communities.
Preserve Stories: Create a lasting record of voices and experiences for future generations.
Better Together in Action: This project is a practical way to live SNG values and strategy by connecting meaningfully with communities

SNG believes that people’s histories and cultural heritage are what make our communities so interesting and diverse - so we are celebrating SNG Heritage Week by having informal chats with residents about their personal stories.
We are hoping to create a heritage story booklet as part of the project and this is not at all compulsory, so please do not feel that you have to participate.
If you would be happy to consent for SNG to use anything you have shared, please complete the relevant survey question.
