💚 Mental Health Tips

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that your wellbeing matters — no matter where you are or what you're going through.

If you’re struggling with anxiety, sadness, anger, or stress, here are a few ways to look after your mental health, even in hard times:

🧠 1. Ground Yourself When You Feel Overwhelmed

Try the 5-4-3-2-1 technique:
🔹 5 things you can see
🔹 4 things you can touch
🔹 3 things you can hear
🔹 2 things you can smell
🔹 1 thing you can taste or are grateful for

🗣 2. Talk It Out

Speak to someone you trust — a support worker, friend, or helpline. You don’t have to go through it alone. Talking helps ease pressure.

💤 3. Rest When You Can

Even short naps, sitting down, or just closing your eyes can give your brain a break.

✍️ 4. Write or Draw Your Thoughts

No journal? Use scrap paper, your phone, or your mind. Getting your feelings out helps stop them from building up.

🎧 5. Music or Podcasts Can Help

Use headphones or a quiet space to calm your mind. Look for playlists that help you relax, laugh, or feel understood.

🤝 6. Ask for Help — It’s a Strength

There are people and services who want to help you — You are not a burden. You deserve support.

📱
Shout (24/7 free text support) – Text ‘SHOUT’ to 85258
The Mix (under 25s) – Call 0808 808 4994 or chat online

NHS - 111 access 24/7 for full package of mental health crisis support through one single phone line.

Be kind to your mind. You’ve survived so much already — and there is hope ahead. 💚
