September Sustainability Challenge: Join Second Hand September!
This month, our Sustainability Group is supporting Second Hand September—a national campaign led by Oxfam that encourages people to say no to new clothes for 30 days and embrace the power of pre-loved fashion.
Why?
Because fast fashion has a huge environmental impact. Every year, millions of garments end up in landfill, and the fashion industry contributes significantly to global carbon emissions. By choosing second hand, we can reduce waste, save resources, and support a more sustainable future.
How You Can Get Involved:
Shop second hand at charity shops, vintage stores, or online resale platforms
Share your favourite second-hand finds below or send a photo to engagement@sng.org.uk
And share tips, stories, and ideas throughout the month. Whether it’s a wardrobe refresh, a DIY upcycle, or a brilliant bargain, we’d love to hear from you!
Together, we can make small changes that lead to a big impact—for our communities, our planet, and future generations.
Everyone that gets involved will be entered into a prize draw for a £20 voucher, and we will also pick our favourite photos/stories that will each receive a £25 voucher.
