🐉 Happy St George’s Day! 🐉
Today we’re celebrating England’s patron saint, St George — a symbol of courage and honour. Known for the legendary tale of slaying a dragon, St George’s story has inspired generations with its message of bravery and standing up for what's right.
St George's Day has been marked in England since the 13th century, and while it’s rooted in history, it’s also a great opportunity to celebrate English culture, tradition, and community spirit.
Did you know.....
🛡️ St George wasn’t English – He was actually born in what is now modern-day Turkey, and he never visited England!
🐉 The dragon legend came later – The famous story of St George slaying a dragon was added centuries after his death. It’s a symbol of good triumphing over evil.
🏴 St George is not just England’s patron saint – He’s also the patron saint of several other places, including Georgia, Catalonia (Spain), Portugal, and Ethiopia.
📅 St George’s Day used to be a big deal – It was once as widely celebrated in England as St Patrick’s Day is in Ireland. It even used to be a national holiday!
🌹 The red rose is the symbol of the day – It’s traditional to wear a red rose on your lapel on St George’s Day, inspired by Shakespeare’s reference to it in Henry VI.

✅ Why This Tick Sheet Matters
This weekly tick sheet is your personal guide to staying on track with your licence agreement—and towards your goal of moving on. By keeping up with rent, tidying your space, attending your support sessions, and bidding regularly, you’re showing you're ready for the next step (Band 2 on Home Finder). It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being consistent. And remember, this isn’t just a checklist—it’s a way to build routines, take care of your space, and move toward your goals. Need help with any part of it? Your support worker is always here for you. 💬👏

Let's talk about Period poverty - because no one should have to chose between food and pads.
Period poverty is real - and more common than people think. It's not just about affording pads or tampons; it's about feeling clean, comfortable, and confident.
If you've ever had to stretch a product too far, felt awkward asking for help, or had to go without - you're not alone.
Here's the good news:
There are places that can help with free or low cost period products - no judgment, just support.
Where to get help:
- Local food banks: Many food banks now include period products. Find your nearest one here: https://isleofwight.foodbank.org.uk/
- My period app: Where there's everything you need to know about periods, period education, and where to find free products:. https://myperiod.org.uk/
- Ask at your local GP or sexual health clinic - they may have free products available or know where you can get them locally.
It's ok to ask. You're not alone. Periods are natural - struggling to afford products shouldn't be.
Let's keep the conversation open and support each other without shame.
